ABSTRACT
The work focuses the issue of the organizational conditions to be set to exploit ICT potentials, by providing an approach to evaluate the organizational impact of ICT. The frame is applied to a case in healthcare relevant for its complexity. Results of the case study indicate the importance of three factors for the success of an ICT intervention: the definition at the top level of an ICT strategy, the systematic attention of the top management to ICT projects and the use of process analysis. These factors are discussed in the context of the evolution of ICT in the healthcare sector, focusing in particular on the diffusion of ERP.

Key words: Business Process Reengineering, ERP, healthcare, ICT organisational impact
